How Signs Around You works
A calm way to discover what the Quran says about the world around you — built so that everything you read has been checked by people, and every source is shown.
This is a demo. The institutions, reviewers and approvals shown are sample personas, marked (demo). The content still needs review by a qualified scholar before launch.
Three ways in
- You point your camera at something
- AI picks it from a closed list — or you choose
- You see the card an institution approved, or “not yet”
- You ask a question in your own words
- We gather approved verses, hadith and cards
- The answer cites them — or says there's no verified reference yet
- You ask to talk to someone
- You decide what to share — nothing by default
- A trained specialist from a partner institution replies
Where AI is used
AI may
- Recognise what's in your photo, from a closed list
- Find approved evidence that matches your question
- Write plain explanations that cite that evidence — labelled as AI-assisted
AI never
- Types Quran text — it's inserted from the King Fahd Complex database
- Invents or grades a hadith
- Gives rulings (fatwas) on your personal situation
- Analyses people in your photos
You'll always see which is which: “AI-assisted answer · from approved sources · not a scholar” · “Approved card · …”
On this server AI is switched off, so you'll choose from the list — the app works fully without it.
Our sources
Quran text — King Fahd Complex (KFGQPC), Hafs v18
The Madinah mushaf text and its official font, served unmodified and inserted only by verse reference.
Translation — Saheeh International
English translation of the meaning, always labelled. Currently a mirror copy, pending a pin to the official published edition.
Hadith — Sahih al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim
From an open dataset, cited by collection, number and numbering scheme, with grade. Numbers are checked in a dataset mirror; scholarly verification is pending.
Word counts — Quranic Arabic Corpus
Lemma-based counts computed by code, always shown with the rule. We never attach significance to a number.
Commentary — al-Tabari, Jami' al-Bayan
Classical commentary quoted verbatim in Arabic and attributed to its author.
Pictures are decorative
Concept pictures are illustrations with no writing in them. They are never evidence, and we never generate calligraphy.
Privacy promises
- No accounts for visitors, and we never ask about your religion.
- Photos are shrunk on your phone (location data removed), looked at in memory, and never stored.
- An anonymous random code on your device is all we use — we keep only a scrambled (hashed) version.
- Questions are stored without anything that identifies you, to improve quality.
- Before you talk to a person, you choose exactly what to share.
- Nothing is used for training unless you opt in.
Contributing institutions
Libraries, universities and da'wah associations write, review and approve the content you read. Each card names who approved it.
